Morrison died yesterday, August 5th at the age of 88. Her book Beloved is the winner of a multitude of prizes, as well as her many other novels and works.
She had lived an incredible life and had an incredible impact on so many lives. Some of her most notable achievements include;

Morrison wrote 11 novels, five children’s books, two plays, nine pieces of non-fiction and even a libretto! Song of Solomon, Beloved, The Bluest Eyes, are just some of the examples of her greatest works.
Her series of children’s books were co-written by her son, Slade Morrison.
Morrison won six different awards this year.

- Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in Race Relations
- Pulitzer Prize for Fiction
Morrison became the first-ever black woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
She was also awarded the Commander of the Arts and Letters in Paris.
Toni Morrison won the National Book Foundation’s Medal of Distinguished Contribution to American Letters
The author’s contributions to the humanities were recognized when she was awarded the National Humanities Medal
Morrison was named Officíer de la Légion d’Honneur, which is the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits
Her work was recognized by the federal government when she was chosen for the Library of Congress’s Achievement Award for Fiction
Toni Morrison was awarded one of the highest honors when she was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.
